MATT ZAPPA

Drums

Matt Zappa, Berklee College of Music Alum, is an internationally-touring drummer of such bands as Protean Collective, Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys, and Math The Band.

Matt is also a recording session musician for pop, rock, and hip hop artists. His drumming has been featured in video game soundtracks.

Over the years, his dedication to music has also extended to education. He has 10+ years of experience teaching drum lessons privately preparing students for college music programs and personal music projects. Since 2017 he’s been a guest lecturer at MIT for Heavy Metal 101, a student run course based on the history, culture, and musicianship of the genre.  

He has won awards at the Boston Music Awards with Julie Rhodes and the Electric Co. and at the International Portuguese Music award with the Mike Kerr Group. Over the years, Matt has received acclaim for his projects from publications such as The Boston Globe, Village Voice, Metal Injection, and Vanyaland.
